the scariest thing I ever did.

by samt

The scariest thing I ever did was about 3 years ago when I was around 10ish. There was a large hill at my friends house and it was very steep. Then I started to ride down from the top on a mini skateboard. It was the scariest thing I had ever done as I accellerated so fast and was extremely scared that I would fall off. In the end though I just hit the curb of the T intesection at the bottom and did a flip before landing on my bum. That was the most fun I have ever had.

The Call of the Haunted Bananas!!!

by samt

Chapter one                 Mystery

“Iie Iie Harrapoon” said the man as he was speared through the heart with a harpoon. This was the 22nd in a string of mysterious deaths which happened all around the world from Paris to China. This man was in Japan (you can tell from the language he was speaking). The situation was serious as these people were all rich men who owned things like supermarket chains, multi-million dollar oil riggs and other such buisinesses. Many people believed that it was a plot to win the lottery but many more thaught that it was a plot to take over the world.

Chapter two                       The hero

Blubbles the frog was just an ordinary frog other than the fact that he was 7 foot 10. He lived in the circus next to the lion cages. He had no knowledge of the outside world as his parents had both died during birth (that was the odd thing as he was born out of an egg and was never a tadpole). His father had gotten blind drunk and eventually ate himself.

The bell rang and it was time for his next performance. “Will I ever leave this place” he said to himself as the ringmaster walked by.His cage was dragged to the middle of the ring under the big top and the cover was thrown off revealing his green slimy skin and his bulging eyes. Some of the crowd gasped in amazement. Other thaught he was a freak and threw food at him which he gladly ate as he was badly malnourished. He got only one bowl of fly paper a day and it was only luck as to whether there were enough flies to make a meal. Little did he know thathis luck was about to change. “Presenting Frog Boy, the greatest oddity we have to offer you” the gruff ringmasters voice travelled around the tent. All of a sudden the whole group of people was out in the air. A huge wind had arisen and the tent had flown off. Blubbles squealed in terror as his cage began to roll down the hill. The cover was acting as a sail and as the wind increased so did his speed.

Chapter 3                        A New Beginning

It was late afternoon when Blubbles awoke and he found himself staring into the eyes of a young girl. She couldn’t have been older than ten and she was wearing sandals, denim jeans and a checkered shirt.

He jumped to his feet and in a quavering voice managed to say ” p..pplese d…don’t hurt me.” All she did was stand there unspeaking. She said hi and then they slowly began talking. He told the girl of his life at the circus and she told him of her life in the trees. Blubbles thaught that she was beautiful with her black flowing hair and she thaught that blubbles was a bit odd but really nice. “Do you want to stay with me in my nest for a while froggy?” she enquired. He nodded hastily and then followed her as she walked along a path that looked as if it had been abandoned for years. The finaly reached a clearing and then the girl began climbing up a tall oak tree. “By the way my name is Abby.” As soon as she had settled on a branch Blubbles bent down and then leaped into the air. He positioned himself above the branch and the landed with no sound at all.

St Patricks Day

by samt

St patricks day is the day where Irish celebrate how St Patrick made many pagans into christians and aslo how he chased the snakes out of Ireland. He was born in the 4th century and he died in march of 460 AD. He was sold into slavery at the age of 16 and at the age of 22 he began converting pagans to christians.

St Patricks Day is held on the day of his death (17th march) which is why people dress in green as it is the colour of the flag.

Poem: Trees

by samt

You blossum in the Spring time

And wither in the winter

You give us life

Without you we would fall

We miss you when you’re gone

and love you when you’re back

But the strangest thing of all is

Fire makes you black.

Poem: Cheese

by samt

You may be Yellow

And you may smell

But listen closely when I tell

I love you in the mornin’

I love you after tea

But most of all I love you

When it’s just you and me.

International Day at Carlo High

by samt

On the 19th of June Carlingford High School held its one of a kind International Day. Everyone came to the school in very colourful and unique clothing which came from the country that they were a part of.

It all started after recess as the whole school went into the hall for a special concert involving instruments, singing and a lot of fashion parades. This was when all of the different cultural groups came together to share and embrace the differences and find out info about many different countries. One example is when Ajay Joshi played and Indian drum and was very good “oh man that was great” were Ajays words afterward. Another example was from the fashion parade where people came out in pinks, reds and greens to show off their traditions.

Afther this we went out and all of the stalls brought the school to life there were people every where bustling down walkways and stairs to find the stall of their country group and also try some foreign foods. This lasted until the end of the school day.

This was a well organised and all around fun day for everyone and even though there was rain it seemed to hold off just so that the students of Carlo High could have a brilliantly fun and interesting day.

Galaxy Quest

by samt

Galaxy Quest is a present day comedic action film about a team of actors who are mistaken for being real heroesand are then thrust into a war and a battle for their very survival.

Lead by their captain(Tim Allen) the crew of 5 begins a new journey through space to save these aleins who worship them because of ‘the sacred sriptures’ which are actually their old television show which had somehow been transmitted from an earth satelite.

They discover that the aliens have an arcdh enemy and they face the choice of running home or being real heroes instead of actors.

They then find that the adventure is tough and they all have moments when they think of turning back but they don’t and they keep figthting. No one can know which side will win.

I love this movie and its comedic and action packed story and the screen play and sets are superb. I loved how they actually made moving sets as it definately makes the film more realistic.

Speech Process

by samt

It was an average day and then DAMMIT!!! I was given a speech assignment by my English teacher. I was a bit worried but all in all ok about it. I was the 1st person to have a topic. I decided to talk about the 1st moon landing. You should always pick that 1st. Then when I arrived home I jumped on the computer and played counter strike condition zer0. I was just about to kill the last terrorist when my mum came in and told me to do home work. I was about to tell her I had none and I did but then I started my speech.

1st I googled the moon landing and got over 3000000 sites so I decided to take a trip to the library. Whilst I was there I read 4 mr men books and then borrowed some moon books.

Then on the weekend I spent all of saturday writing my speech to get it out of the way and not leave it till the last second. Which is a good stratagy. Then after the holidays I presented my speech (after some practise) and I really thought that I had done a good job.

The Moon Landing

by samt

One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. These were the historic words of Niel armstrong as he first set foot on the moon.

Space…At some point in your lives I am sure that everyone dreams of what it would be like to see it’s never ending vastness and be one of the few select people to walk on another planet. President Kennedy would come as close to this as he possibly could, him being the 1st president to send and retrieve a man from the moon.

In 1961 president Kenedy made the promise that he would be the 1st man to land and retrieve a man from the moon to prove america’s technical superiority over the soviet union.

In 1969 he made good on his promise even though he would not be around to see it. A team of 3 men on the Apollo 11 mission lead by Niel Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Aldrin Jr. the team landed on the moon on July 20 1969. Niel Armstrong had been the first man to ever walk on the surface of the moon.

To survive on the desolate surface of the moon the men needed portable life support systems which were made up of an oxygen tank for breathing, a temperature control system and a pressure control system because without the added pressure of earths gravity on our bodies our lungs would not work properly and our hearts would not beat normally.

The crew spent about 2 and a half hours walking around and collecting soil and rock and making notes. The crew then began the long journey home with the knowledge that they would be remembered forever as the first men to ever walk on the moon.

The team landed safely in the pacific ocean on the 24th of July and were then picked up in a helicopter and taken to the U.S.S Hornet where they were put in quarantine to monitor the health of the men.

So after 4 days of adventuring through space the men were finally home.

NEWS!!! Warnie you’re sick!(in a bad way)

by samt

Shane warn has already disgusted his millions of fans in a previous act when he started cyber bullying women. But he has been caught again and this time he wasn’t so lucky. He was caught in a new and sickening sex scandal where he was secretly video taped frollicking with two semi naked models who later on sold the tape to the British tabloids.

After his friends and family heard his wife left him and he has gotten what he deserved.

Now the problem with this is that Warnie is a national icon and many peoples hero but he is a bad role model. If his fans who are young hear then they might think that this is acceptable behavior thereby leading to a terrible future. Also our country is represented by this man who shows the rest of the world what Australia is about. Soon they might find us disgraceful and maybe even try to stay away. Also the press is partly to blame. They have inflated this way to much and the things that anyone does in their time should be kept secret. They were consenting adults who knew what they were doing and even though it was wrong it was their choice.

I still don’t know why he would do this but in my opinion warnie has gone too far this time and should be punished. I am not sure whether we should kick him out of the team, suspend him or even arrest him but one thing I do know is that he should not be allowed to represent us internationally.

I chose to do this article as I feel that we have a brilliant country with millions of good people but it’s the few stars who are caught in bad places who bring us down and this is bad for the economy and our spirit.
